Joshua and Beths Troop

Beth and Joshua were second and third baboons to arrive at “The Manger” (see Matthew’s troop)

Together with Matthew they were the foundation members of Cape CROW – Matthew initiator, Beth surrogate mother and Joshua initiator of animal/ interspecies communication.

Joshua Baboob

Joshua arrived in a seriously ill condition – head wound, brain abscess and paralysis of the left arm and leg. Veterinary and homoeopathic treatment, TLC, good nutrition and in 6 months he had made a good recovery. But never able to run fast or compete with some baboon antics – always moving slowly but steadily. A gentle, wise baboon that started off interspecies communication at The Manger and holds the position of Director of Operations.

Beth Baboon

Beth – very matriarchal – loves the babies who are not being bottle fed, but need a baboon mother figure. To date she and Joshua have brought up about 40 babies to the stage where they are big enough to move to another troop. Currently there are 7 in their small troop – the two of them plus Theresa, Ethan, Florence, Amadeus and George.

Amadeus is a real character – very humanised as a pet for nearly 4 years. He has done well to get of his bread and jam plus coffee for breakfast and troop up with 7 baboons!

A small cohesive group, all grooming and supporting each other living in a large open topped electrified enclosure.

Baby Baboon

Joshua feels the summer heat so is often seen cooling off in the water pool.

Beth has a special friend, Njelo, in the enclosure next door – whom she grooms daily through the fence.

Njelo has impaired vision but the wisdom he holds in his being is beyond words and passed on to others via interspecies communication.
